While numbers are powerful, starting with quantitative keyword research overlooks the more impactful (and quick) process of qualitative keyword research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Qualitative keyword research focuses on language and semantics and often takes the form of brainstorming. Whether this is a topic that you know well or only tangentially, our qualitative keyword research is insightful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Google Auto Suggest<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grab a piece of paper and go to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\">www.google.com<\/a>. Type a two-word phrase relating to your topic into the search bar (don\u2019t hit the Enter key yet). In this case, we\u2019ll go with \u201cenergy chews.\u201d You\u2019ll notice a dropdown appear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/8J7r9qJB6aNurzkVtNWqTyN2qYrxSwOlZPN_mG17_wYowNKMcqzN94Xs2M62nYVxhqTrDspr14vVlBxCzqN2ZvB5AJZkzM5iX9OqEKgtejDpepK-hk1XJhPzV3zp-C65o2NIh0e8\" alt=\"Google search bar with the words energy chews and results auto-populating\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The words suggested by Google in the dropdown tell us that if a person starts typing \u201cenergy chew,&nbsp; that phrase is likely to continue with  words like \u201cWalmart, \u201cnear me,\u201d or \u201cfor a half marathon.\u201d This automatic suggestion feature is known as Google Search Suggest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you find any relevant keywords of interest in the dropdown, jot them down on your piece of paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, go ahead and perform the search for \u201cenergy chew.\u201d Then, scroll through the search results and look for a box titled \u201cPeople also ask\u201d. This is a great place to find long-tail keywords, typically in a question format. Write any relevant questions or phrases you find on your piece of paper.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ALSO<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crowdcontent.com\/blog\/2015\/01\/19\/long-tail-keywords-what-they-are-how-to-use-them\/\">Long Tail Keywords: What They Are and How To Use Them<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/b9aBivwGIsCF7_QonRR1B3yZPpShirVgvcqM1ljLPBIqdfNHKZhzrvfLSuHt7_5dgtVslEt6LQMObX-YlfDc_mTGYFSEVSBbIB2ZBtb68Dd0zCKnttNF93r8HxlSXGa56apD9kcQ\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, click the down arrow next to any \u201cPeople also ask\u201d questions that seem relevant.&nbsp; Read the text that appears and notice whether it answers the question. This text is known as \u201csnippet bait.\u201d It is the content pulled from a page or post which succinctly answers the question. You\u2019ll now see new questions appear, and these questions will also be in line with your interest. If your goal is to write a highly specific blog post on energy chews, then you may now have a specific angle to explore \u2014 such as \u201cenergy chews for half marathon.\u201d Alternatively, you may be intending to publish a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pathfinderseo.com\/complete-content\/\"> comprehensive piece of content<\/a> about energy chews such as \u201cEnergy Chews: A Definitive Guide.\u201d In that case, your searches in Google will continue until you\u2019ve gathered enough information for an article of that depth and size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Answer the Public<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that we\u2019ve covered Google Auto Suggest, let\u2019s turn our attention to a second tool \u2014&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/answerthepublic.com\/\">Answer the Public<\/a>. Again, searching for two-word phrases related to your topic is a great way to start. These entries typically lead to plenty of data, but not an overwhelming amount.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Type in \u201cenergy chews\u201d and hit Enter. Look at the resulting array of words which are organized into a wheel:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/ieVKL8im_QfCj94OZVcG2Z_C5XJ5vIKKLzNbH0ODZ-i5K5Ni2lmMVsToWy4mVf1Gh_8SMAniIYos5cjPdkQv8FrSeJmRmLCqHq9JTkVx-fvH1Pp2XaKTSiHXC7xDe5vJGP2LNZ06\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This is qualitative data that has been clustered by questions \u2014&nbsp;can, what, will, which, where, who, when, why, how, and are. As you scroll down the page, you\u2019ll find more clusters including prepositions (without, can, with, to, for, near, is) and comparisons (or, and, like, versus, vs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your goal is to write a complete piece of content, then these wheels of data will break down your topic into subtopics, which can help you structure and outline your post.
